To use signets in utility skills
I think it will be a good idea to talk about combat in Guild War 2. How it actually feels in the game. The short form, not exactly like an action RPG. Maybe more like a mix of an action RPG and a more traditional MMO like World of Warcraft or Star Wars: The Old Republic. As you probably know, you only have access to 10 abilities at any one time, 15 if you count switching out weapons, and 25 if you count the Elementalist’s attunements. Five will be from weapons which will be your primary attacks, you’ll have one data kit of healing ability, three utility skills, and one overpowered elite skill. I found that you will primarily be using the first five abilities that come from your equipped weapon and your heal skill.
When I was playing guild wars 2 necromancer leveling, I was mostly using signets in my utility skills and I’m not really a fan of them. I think I would much rather use activated abilities from now on. I didn’t feel like the passes gave me enough of a bonus to be really useful and honestly, I would forget to use their activated abilities a lot. The reason I feel like it’s a mix of RPG styles is the auto cast option. You can set one of any one of your abilities to automatically cast once it comes off cool down, or if you have enough initiative as a thief. By default it is on your primary attack. This attack has no cool down or initiative cost and can be spammed.
If you have it set to auto cast it acts very much like a traditional auto attack from wow but with a few differences. As Malai your spammable has a three hit combo: damage, more damage, and the third hit deals damage and applies a condition like vulnerability or bleed. You want to get that third hit. If you move out of range the auto casts will stop, but many may not be asking how this is any different from auto attacks from wow, because it won’t start up again if you get in range. You have to actively start it up again when you get back to your target. In whatever game, you will need game currency such as Guild wars 2 gold to fully enjoy the game experience.
